Martin brings a wealth of senior leadership and investigative experience to Monan Gozzett, following a distinguished 30-year policing career that culminated in his role as Chief Constable of Sussex Police for seven years, and previously Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police. His earlier service spanned Warwickshire and Avon & Somerset Constabularies, where he held key operational roles including Divisional Commander, Head of CID, and Detective Sergeant.
With a career shaped by complex investigations, high-stakes decision-making, and leadership at the highest level, Martin now works closely with our clients and legal team to provide strategic insight, expert case analysis, and practical support in defending allegations, particularly at the pre-charge and early investigative stage.
Martin plays a key role in trial preparation, offering unique guidance on police process, interview tactics, and investigative strategy. His ability to anticipate and deconstruct the likely approach of law enforcement is invaluable to clients navigating the stress and uncertainty of false or disputed allegations.
Since retiring from operational policing, Martin has remained a nationally respected figure in the fields of safeguarding, public sector governance, and complaint review.
