Patrick is an Associate Solicitor at Monan Gozzett LLP. having qualified in January 2025.
Before entering the legal profession, Patrick studied Modern Languages at the University of Southampton and began his career as a translator specialising in intellectual property and legal documentation. He worked with international Non‑Governmental Organisations and several of Europe’s leading scientific, industrial and retail organisations, translating patents and patent‑related judgments. His primary working languages were German to English, with additional experience translating from French and Spanish.
Patrick completed the MA Law with Distinction at the University of Sussex in 2022. He subsequently joined a historic Brighton-based firm, where he undertook the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations while continuing to operate his freelance translation business and to work full-time as a trainee solicitor. Since qualifying, Patrick has focused his practice on civil litigation.
He acts for both claimants and defendants and advises on a broad range of disputes. His work predominantly concerns inheritance and estate administration matters, but he also has experience in professional negligence, commercial and residential tenancy disputes, and the division of assets between unmarried couples. Patrick has been commended by clients and specialist counsel for his thorough approach and his ability to identify nuanced, sometimes obscure legal principles that strengthen his clients’ positions.
Patrick takes great interest in protecting the livelihoods and reputations of his clients and will readily take instructions in cases of defamation, breach of confidence, and unpaid debts. Working together with his criminal defence colleagues, he will also pursue civil actions against the police, for example where his client has been wrongfully arrested.
Alongside his legal practice, Patrick sits as a Magistrate on the Sussex Bench. This role requires him to assess complex circumstances and to make decisions that can directly affect a defendant’s liberty. His legal training ensures he remains attentive to the rights of defendants and the court’s obligations.
