Our team have experience in both the family and criminal Courts, which enables a smooth handling of matters for our clients when they face allegations which result in overlapping or linked proceedings. Our clients tell us they find it reassuring to know that their matters are being dealt with by one team and the continuity of representation that provides.

It is quite likely if you have a child(ren) and have been accused of a serious criminal offence the Police will make a referral to Social Services.  Social Services are under a duty to investigate if they are informed that a child is suffering, or is likely to suffer significant harm.  They have a statutory duty to make any enquiries that they deem necessary in order to decide whether any action should be taken to safeguard and promote a child’s welfare.  When undertaking their assessment social workers will seek to liaise with parents, carers, the child’s school, the child’s doctor, the police and any other professional agencies involved in the child’s life.  This assessment is separate to the police investigation however information is likely to flow between the professionals.  You will be expected to meet with the social worker and speak to them about your children and the alleged offence.  We strongly recommend that before doing so that you seek legal advice from a specialist team like ourselves who are experienced in dealing with overlapping criminal and family matters in order that you do not jeopardise either of your cases by responding inappropriately.

We offer an initial call with one of our representatives in order to assess whether we are able to assist you and to discuss anticipated fees for our services.
